Ingredients

Serves : 5
  • 2 cups mixed lentils/ dal


  • 1/2 cups gram flour/ besan


  • 1 cups curd/ dahi


  • 1/4 tsp turmeric/ haldi


  • 1 tbsp lemon juice/ neembu ras


  • 1 tbsp sugar/ cheeni


  • 1 tsp salt/ namak to taste


  • 1 tbsp for tadka - oil/ tel


  • 1 tsp mustard seeds/ raai


  • 1 pinch asafoetida/ hing


  • 1 tbsp lemon juice/ neebu ras


  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar/ cheeni


  • 2 nos chopped chilies/ hari mirch


  • 10 nos curry leaves/ meetha neem


  • 1/2 tsp salt/ namak to taste


  • 1 cups water/ pani


  • 1 tsp eno


  • 1 tsp baking powder

Directions

  • Wash the lentils and soak in water for 5 hours.
  • Drain water and then grind it in a mixer to make a smooth paste for batter.
  • Grease the dhokla stand with some oil. Add remaining ingredients (except baking power and eno) in above dal batter. Mix well.
  • Add eno and baking powder and mix with a light hand. Pour the batter in dhokla stand immediately and steam for 20 minutes on medium flame
  • FOR TADKA - Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds to it. When seeds starts crackling, add curry leaves and chopped green chilies. Mix the remaining ingredients of tadka and switch off the gas.
  • When dhokla and tadka cools down, cut the dhoklas in pieces and pour tadka over it.
  • Yummy and healthy 'Mixed Dal Dhokla' is ready to be served with chutney!
